2015 Solar Thermal Incentives

Solar Thermal Water Heater Why burn dinosaur juice to heat your water or your home? Why contribute to climate change, superstorms, and rising sea levels just to have a hot shower? Use the sun to for your home’s heating needs, all year around?

Solar thermal collectors capture the energy of the sun and use it to heat your water and warm your home. Since some 60% of home energy use in Minnesota is used to heat water and interior spaces, installing solar thermal technology can take a big bite out of your fossil fuel consumption.

Solar thermal is an easily-installed, less expensive option for customers who want to reduce their carbon footprint and increase their energy independence.

Now’s the time to act. Minnesotans are deeply concerned about reducing our carbon footprint, which is why we passed laws in 2013 providing 25% UP-FRONT rebates for solar thermal systems in 2015.

Combined with the 30% federal tax credit, you’ll save over $6,200 on a 2-panel system solar thermal hot water system.

Combined with the 30% federal tax credit, you’ll save over $3,100 on a 2-panel system solar thermal space heating system.

The 2014 rebate covers residential solar thermal up to $2,500.00, multi-family up to $5000.00 and commercial/industrial up to $25,000.

If you or anyone you know is a decision-maker at a large commercial, industrial or agricultural enterprise, solar space heating is a must-consider. With a rise in fuel prices and the low cost of parts and installation, solar space heating can insulate you against big spikes in heating costs like we saw this winter. This means lower costs and faster paybacks – and more revenue flowing to your core operations. Plus, you can show your customers you’re committed to a healthier planet for our children.
